7.1 Atlas of all topologically distinct objects in the data set.

The zone segmentation allows us to produce (perhaps coarsely rendered, see simplification below) a visual atlas of all topologically distinct objects in the data set (not just the individual contours) together with the range of isovalues that reveals each object. A common criticism of isosurface methods is that they obscure the structure of the underlying scalar field. The zones reveal it.
