We are now in the process of implementating the zone segmentation. We are also exploring the potential use of topological zones in other applications, such as multimodal image registration. Note that in this regard, the criticality tree is invariant under rotation, scaling, transalation, and uniform value translation of the data set.
We believe that the topological zone segmentation will provide optimized tools for the out-of-core visualization, interactive exploration, and understanding of extremely large scalar volume datasets.
