CASI Fireside Chat with CFA Institute: Reflecting CASI in 2024

In 2023, the Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI) was launched during COP28 to accelerate sustainable finance through knowledge-sharing and capacity-building. To mark its first anniversary, Dr. Ma Jun, Chairman of CASI, joined Paul Moody, Managing Director at CFA Institute, for an engaging fireside chat. The discussion highlighted CASI’s significant achievements in its inaugural year and outlined an ambitious strategy for the future.

 

- Highlights from 2024

  • Membership Growth: Expanded from 40 members at launch to 67 members, including 8 founding members and 59 knowledge and distribution partners.
  • Capacity-Building Programs Delivered:
    • CASI Sustainability Forums: In-person events on key sustainable finance topics, usually held as 2-3 day events quarterly.
    • CASI Webinars: Specialized online discussions on critical areas of sustainable finance, scheduled for 2-hour sessions monthly.
    • CASI Academy: Online self-paced learning platform with thematic courses and videos, with 18 modules launched to date.
    • Technical Assistance (TA) Services: On-demand support provided to members and other stakeholders.

  • Global Reach: Over 5,000 professionals trained across 50 countries in 2024.
  • Media Presence: Featured in over 1,400 media reports worldwide.
  • Recognition: Named a global capacity-building partner by the ISSB.

 

- Looking Ahead to 2025

  • Expanding CASI Academy: Adding 50 new modules (targeting 100 total by 2026), with a focus on critical topics such as climate risk, transition finance, and project origination.
  • Leveraging Technology: Launching an AI-powered, multi-language e-learning platform (CASI Academy) to enhance accessibility and global reach.
  • Supporting Emerging Markets: Addressing key challenges, including bottlenecks in developing bankable green projects.
