The Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI) is a global platform launched at COP28 in 2023 to strengthen sustainable finance capacity, especially in emerging and developing economies (EMDEs). With global institutional members, CASI delivers high-impact training, e-learning (CASI Academy), events, and technical assistance to build the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to scale climate and sustainable investments, green finance and the eco-system.

About CASI

What is CASI?

The Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI) is a global platform launched at COP28 in December 2023 to strengthen sustainable finance capacity, especially in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs). CASI delivers training, e-learning, events and technical assistance to help scale climate and sustainable investment.

Who are CASI's members?

CASI has 75+ member institutions across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Oceania, including financial regulators, multilateral development banks, commercial banks, asset managers, industry bodies, NGOs and academic institutions, such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered, CFA Institute and the HKMA Infrastructure Financing Facilitation Office.

What is CASI's goal?

To train 100,000 people in sustainable finance by 2030, with a focus on emerging markets and developing economies.

Is CASI recognised internationally?

Yes. CASI is recognised as a Global Partner of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) for capacity-building on sustainability disclosure.

CASI Academy

What is CASI Academy?

CASI Academy is a multilingual online learning platform for sustainable finance and investment. It offers 90+ modules covering sustainable and green finance, impact investing, transition finance, climate risk, ESG reporting and sustainability disclosure, blended finance [add or remove topics as needed].

Courses combine expert video lectures, real-world cases, quizzes and mock exams, with content developed together with our member institutions and leading experts. Visit academy.casi.net.

Who are the courses for?

Finance professionals, regulators, corporate sustainability teams, and university students or career switchers looking to build skills in sustainable finance. No prior ESG background is required [confirm].

How much do the courses cost? Is there a free trial?

Yes. The Introductory Course and the CASI Certificate of Participation are free as a trial, so you can experience CASI learning before choosing a plan. Fees for full certification plans are listed on our Certification Plans page.

Is there any reimbursement programme or financial support?

Yes. The HKGFA-CASI Certificate is an Eligible Programme under the Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme (Programme Code: GTP-6866255). Eligible applicants can apply for a subsidy of up to 80% of the relevant fees, or up to 100% for full-time students, subject to a ceiling of HK$10,000. Corporate clients can also arrange invoice-based payment, and selected plans may support instalments.

How long does it take, and can I learn at my own pace?

Yes, all courses are self-paced. Most learners complete a full certification in 3–6 months, studying 5–10 hours a week.

What languages are courses offered in?

CASI offers a pathway of certificates for different career stages and needs:

  • CASI Certificate of Participation (free): an introductory pathway with three 1-hour introductory modules plus a mock exam.

  • A student who wants to stand out on your CV and join the industry? The HKGFA-CASI Certificate gives you a recognised credential, with up to 100% subsidy for full-time students and a head start on the HKMA ECF.
  • Working in Hong Kong's financial sector? The HKGFA-CASI Certificate is subsidised for eligible applicants and offers HKMA ECF exemptions.
  • Need training for a team? We offer team and enterprise plans with invoice-based payment.
How do I get certified?

What other benefits does the HKGFA-CASI Certificate offer?

Students completing the programme are eligible to apply for Module 1 and Module 2 exemptions under the HKMA Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) Accreditation on the Green and Sustainable Finance (GSF) Core Level Training Programme, a head start towards an industry-recognised banking qualification in Hong Kong.

How can employers verify my certificate?

Every CASI certificate has a unique number that anyone can check with our certificate verification service.

Do certificates count towards CPD hours?

Yes, the HKGFA-CASI Certificate counts towards CPD hours.

How can my institution become a CASI member?

CASI membership is by invitation. There are two categories:

  • Category A members contribute to CASI.
  • Category B members join as knowledge partners, free of charge.
