Programme Overview and Objectives

Sustainable investing is increasingly an important component of pension fund management and retirement planning. Driven by regulatory developments, evolving investor expectations, and the rising significance of ESG integration, finance and investment professionals should be equipped to navigate this shift.

The CASI Academy Special Program for the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) industry of Hong Kong offers a dedicated online training module on Sustainable Investing tailored for pension-sector stakeholders. This one-hour, self-paced online course, and participants will receive a Certificate of Participation on the subject upon completion. The program is delivered in English.

The objective is of this programme is to strengthen the professional knowledge of MPF industry stakeholders, including subsidiary intermediaries (SIs), in sustainable investing – enabling them to communicate key concepts clearly and support MPF scheme members with informed, accurate guidance. Specifically, the program aims to equip learners to:

  • Explain the evolving Sustainable investment landscape and the market developments.
  • Explain the differentiation between sustainable funds from traditional funds.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Eligibility 

We are pleased to announce that this program qualifies for one hour of non-core MPF CPD for SIs. Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation upon completion of this program.

This online program will enhance the professional knowledge of MPF industry stakeholders, including SIs, in sustainable investing, and assist and empower them to effectively help explain such messages to, educate and support MPF scheme members. It is particularly suitable for:

  • Subsidiary Intermediaries seeking to fulfil CPD requirements and stay updated on sustainable investing market and regulatory developments.
  • Financial planners and advisors looking to integrate sustainability considerations into client engagement and investment discussions.

 

Program content

  • Sustainable Investing Ecosystem and Evolution: Understand the development of sustainable investing, the key drivers behind its growth, and its role in advancing the transition to a sustainable economy.
  • Sustainability in the Pension Ecosystem: Explore the relevance of sustainable investment for pension funds, drawing on global examples and highlighting pensions’ role in intergenerational capital stewardship.
  • Unique Features of Sustainable Funds: Compare sustainable funds and traditional funds, explore integration approaches, and understand the performance implications of sustainable investing.
  • Challenges and Future Outlook: Identify the challenges facing institutional adoption and examine emerging trends shaping the future of sustainable investing.

 

Certificate

To be eligible for the certificate, participants must complete the course videos and finish the quiz at the end of the video. Completion is tracked on the learning platform.

The certificate will be issued within two weeks upon successful payment and completion of all required coursework. The digital certificate will be delivered to participants via email.

 

What is CPD?

An SI is required to attend 15 hours of CPD activities between 1 January and 31 December of each calendar year of which 4 hours must be core CPD activities. The remaining hours can be fulfilled by completing non-core CPD activities.
